DEVON KIDS TENNIS
This summer, Devon Country Club will once again be offering tennis lessons led by our club pro, Mark Noe. Session one is in June and session two is in July. Each session has 10 classes.
Come to our youth tennis/swim team call-out meeting at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2, in the Devon pavilion if you’d like to learn more about youth tennis or swim team.
Anyone of any age or ability can play tennis! Tennis strengthens bones and muscles, improves coordination and fosters mental development. You develop the ability to focus and think quickly and strategically – either with a partner or on your own. With tennis, kids learn how to become good athletes as well as developing and maturing into the best versions of themselves.
|Beginner Tennis Class Lessons – M/W/F – Ages: 5-10
Session 1 -Starting June 3-June 24 8:30am-9:30am
Session 2 – Starting July 8-July 29 8:30am-9:30am
$80 for 10 classes (last week open for weather make ups)
Devon Beginner Tennis lessons are designed for children 5 years to 10 years The goal of this class is to teach tennis in a fun atmosphere, with the goal of having players rally together at the appropriate level. Some key techniques that will be used in all groups will be introduced here, but the focus will be on how to use these skills while rallying. The ability to play points and rally with an opponent from a young age are key to the enjoyment and progression of skills. This approach provides coaches the flexibility to modify lessons to better meet the needs of the player and facilitate development, making learning more fun.

Devon Advanced Beginner / Intermediate Tennis lessons are designed for children 7 years to 15 years. The goal of this class is to continue the rally-based approach to learning, as well as introducing basic tactics to players. Techniques will be further developed, and players should have a solid base of topspin before moving up to this level. The techniques developed should begin to open up more tactical options for players.
